Richard Blake has been appointed Captain for the 2010 season. Once Captain of the fabled Northumberland Football Clubb, Blakey has 4 majors to his name including Foxhills 2003, The Open at the Rolls in 1995 and back-to-back wins at Goodwood and Beadlow Manor in 1989. He also has 7 runner-up spots and a third place. At the other end of the table, he has come last twice, at Sonning in 2000 and South Winchester in 2008

The Captain for 2009 is Dave Websdale. His golfing claim to fame is winning the Northumberland Open at North Berwick in 2006. He has grand ideas for his season as Captain but they didn't include coming last on the first day

Reg Marsh does like flowery curtains, but more importantly has re-invented himself in the Society and after two hard years has been selected as Captaino. Reg has been with the Society over twenty years and came up through the Northumberland football ranks. We are all looking forward to seeing him impose his stamp on the season

Simon has risen through the ranks of the Society in double quick time, but no one can question his commitment and passion for the Society. Simon's legend is being shaped on the back of three things. 1, He is 9ft 8 inches tall. 2, his passion for pushing back the fashion boundaries in conjunction with his Burberry sponsors. 3. His failure to claim a major from numerous winning positions. Can he become the first Captain to win while in office?

Huggy becomes the first man to be awarded the Captaincy for the second time. Is there a more iconic Northumberland golfer?
Our oldest player
Our first ever winner
Our first ever double Captain.

The Academy turned to youth in the shape of Simon Cliffe. The shape of Simon Cliffe now theres a thought. Very quickly Simon stamped his style on 2005. Simon is now universally known as Captain Chaos. Old traditional values like turning up and bringing clothes to wear seem to have gone by the wayside, but however history remembers Simon's year in office he certainly will not be forgotton.
Jeff a controversial choice as Captain considering his bad boy image promises sunshine all the way during his tenure. Jeff who has quit the game and walked off more times than George Best has two victories back in 1997. Often in turmoil Jeff has turned to the likes of Subutteo, Pipe smoking and his mum to easy his pain

Universally known as the Chancellor, Four time Major winner Colin is a Society salwart. One of Hull's favourite sons Colin worked hard to unite the society during his year in charge, although nobody knew what he was on about in his Green Jacket column. The Chancellor famously notched the Societies first hole in one at Stockley Park in September 1994

Geordie boy Mike Horgan loved his year as Skipper and rarely misses a golf day. At one point Mike had the unenviable tag the "best player never to win a major" as time after time he got into the top three but no cigar, (somewhat akin to his team Newcastle United) Finally Mike threw that monkey off his back at Hayling Island in June 2003, followed this up quickly with another win at Mannings Heath in October. During his year as Captain penned the highly entertaining Green Jacket article "Talk of the Toon"

PB Coined the phrase "TRUNKS" in a drunken moment at Monmouth, Paul remains one of the very few players never to make the top three of any major, quite a feat considering he has been playing since the start. Paul's form seemed to improve a couple of years ago, and managed a runners up spot in the pairs with Ian. PB contribution to litrature was his highly entertaining Green Jacket column "BROWN SAUCE"
John, one of the famous Golfing Allen dynasty, was the dominate golfer around the late nineties, Sadly not seen on the tour as much these days, John tends to appear a couple of times a year. John has triumphed three times at Monmouth in the Northumberland Open 1991,1993,1998

The societies oldest player, Huggy tasted victory in our first ever golf day, and has just been pipped in a playoff for victory in 2004 some 16 years later. Huggy is a legend and has a swing and style all of his own, famed for avoiding fairways at all cost his year as captain saw the memorable Green Jacket column "Huggy chips in"

Duncan Lloyd has come close to winning a major. Unfortunately has a habit of high points scoring on the front nine then fading, Duncan biggest claim to fame is his work on the Societies cult magazine " The Green Jacket". Duncan often seen with parts of his body strapped up is known as Tubigrip man
Graham was Capt no 2 and very much the voice of reason. Made his mark in Northumberland history by inventing the legendary "Graham's Briefing". Graham with a pre-shot rountine all off his own, has been sadly absent over the past year or so. Had one magical week in Scotland back in 2000 claiming two majors and a second place in four days.
Ian has the distinction of being the inaugural Captain back in 1996. Founder member Ian came third on our 1st ever golf day. Ian was known as the nearly man for many years, blowing many chances of victory, notably the Northumberland Open at Swindon back in 1992, unfortunately for Ian that torture was captured on film. However the good news is once he won his first major many more has followed, he now is an accomplished single figure golfer (thats his handicap, not his body), if he has a weakness its he tends to get his clubs stolen to frequently, legend has it he still refuses to go anywhere near Swindon.
